Think Like a Man is a 2012 comedy film directed by Tim Story, written by Keith Marryman and David A. Newman, and based on Steve Harvey's 2009 book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.

The film follows four couples. Each of the women are readers of Steve Harvey's book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man. When the men learn the women are hooked on Harvey's advice, they try to turn the tables on their mates, which later seems to backfire.

Think Like a Man, an amorous ensemble comedy based on Harvey's 2009 best-seller, follows a dozen mostly African-American men and women as they attempt to navigate the brave new world of love by the book. The movie, which is very sitcom-setup-driven (it's The Best Man meets Valentine's Day), introduces its embattled pairings with titles like ''The Non-Committer vs. The Girl Who Wants the Ring'' and ''The Dreamer vs. The Woman Who Is Her Own Man.'' For a while, the cookie-cutter behavioral tics are funny in an overly broad way, even if the dialogue is basically stand-up patter turned into glib, fast conversation. And the actors make good company(Think Like a Man). I especially liked Romany Malco as the velvet-smooth player Zeke; Meagan Good as the spiky Mya, who finds it hard to stick to her dating-war codes; and Kevin Hart as the hilariously raging Cedric, who can't stop jabbering about the divorce he only thinks he wants.(Think Like a Man)

Yet Think Like a Man is so busy tracking courtship as if it were a science project that the bite-size love stories lack spontaneity. When the women first get hold of Harvey's book, the manipulations that ensue are fun. When the men read the book and try to out-psych the women, the film should grow ever foxier in its complications — but instead it comes down to a bunch of horndogs pretending to be chivalrous, which is repetitive and kind of soggy.

Movies about addiction tend to be heavy dramatic affairs, with stakes raised high and lives brought low.
But “Smashed,” a new film about a hard-drinking young woman who decides to get sober after one too many late nights, tries a different approach: It mixes in lightness with the seriousness.(Smashed)
"A lot of movies about addiction just sort of dwell in miserabilism, and we didn’t want to do that,” said James Ponsoldt, the film’s director and co-writer. “We wanted it to be something you could relate to, that young people can relate to.”(Smashed).
The movie premiered Sunday at the Sundance Film Festival, where the relatability was on full display (Smashed).
Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays Kate, an elementary school teacher with a full life — she’s enthusiastic in front of a classroom and even more energetic in her nightlife, which consists mainly of drinking at neighborhood bars with husband Charlie (Aaron Paul) and his buddies. Kate also isn’t averse to nips at other times — swigging a beer in the shower, sipping from a flask as she drives to work (Smashed).
But after a series of marathon drinking sessions leads to her waking up in strange places, such as near the dried-up banks of the L.A. River (the Southland-set film makes ample use of Eastside Los Angeles locations) Kate decides to get sober. She takes the advice of a colleague (Nick Offerman) who brings her to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting where she meets a sponsor, the wise but darkly comic Jenny (Octavia Spencer). Her new-found sobriety, however, drives a wedge between Kate and Charlie, who hasn’t given up booze.

He soon runs into trouble revitalising the family's canned fish business, as his jealous ex-flame and imprisoner Angelique Bouchard, played by Eva Green, runs the rival company. The film opened to below-average (for Burton) box office takings, with many commentators pointing to the domination of The Avengers as the reason why.(Dark Shadows) It opened at to that film at most countries' box offices. It received mixed reviews from critics, many of whom acclaimed its visual style, but felt it lacked a focused or substantial plot and developed characters.

Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter teamed up once again for “Dark Shadows,” which came to theaters Friday.

The film, a spin-off of the 1960s television show, tells the story of Barnabas Collins (Depp), a man who was turned into a vampire in the 1700s and released from his coffin in the 1970s.

After discovering McDonalds, pavement and the “devil’s beast” known as a car, Collins, wanders back to his beloved “Collinwood,” the mansion his descendants reside in.(Dark Shadows)

While the acting was brilliant, the plot was extremely hard to follow. There were so many sub-plots I really couldn’t tell you what the main storyline was. There was some romance, some coming-of-age, some suspense, some drama and some tragedy(Dark Shadows).Yet at the same time, there was none of it. As soon as I began following the story, a new one started, creating two-hour confusion(Dark Shadows).

Because of the multiple plotlines, there was hardly any time for character development beyond Collins and the witch, Angelique, who cursed him. I had no emotional ties to characters who, in the end, turned out were relatively important to the story. It would have been better to take out minor stories and replace them with more character development.(Dark Shadows)

The main premise of the movie, beyond the vampires, witches and dark magic, did not make any sense. When Collins, an only child and orphan, was turned into a vampire and locked in a coffin, he did not have any children. How then could he wake up and meet his descendants?(Dark Shadows)

The setting, on the other hand, was very well done. Collins woke up in 1972, which could have been conveyed in an extremely cheesy way. The designers, however, did a great job making it seem like the 1970s without being over the top.(Dark Shadows)

While I only give the movie two out of five stars, people who lived through the 1970s had more appreciation for the film and the references it made to the decade and television series. Regardless of how much I might have liked the acting, I had little appreciation for the film or its references simply because I grew up in the 1990s rather than the 1970s.

Next time, references to the Backstreet Boys and Brink might make the film more enjoyable for college students.

Hushpuppy is six, a Pippi Longstocking in oversized galoshes, Dorothy with a waterlogged Chihuahua, a tiny Wild Thing who could have sprung from Maurice Sendak's forehead fully formed like Athena. She is a heroine with a thousand faces who has to confront awful truths about growing up: an impending storm that's threatening The Bathtub, her erratic daddy Wink's mysterious problems, and imaginary beasts that are sniffing out her weakest spots as the glaciers crumble. Hushpuppy is not precious or particularly precocious; she is an imaginative child with a serious face who is figuring out the world around her.
Beasts of the Southern Wild is in another world that we're fortunate to visit. It almost hurts to think about; so visceral that it is almost beyond rational thought. Similar to when a child tells you a story and anything can happen. A lost shirt talks in your mother's voice. The heartbeats of animals are a secret language to puzzle over. Sometimes you don't have words and can only shriek.
Hushpuppy and Wink don't see themselves as poor, they see themselves as incredibly lucky to live in the best place in the world. The story and characters are absolutely unique to their home, and, yes, the spirit of Louisiana is what drives the film from top to bottom, including its untrained stars Quvenzhané Wallis and Dwight Henry. Although it is necessary to discuss a film in terms of where it fits into society and history, it feels icky to put that sort of microscope on Beasts. It risks diluting the magic and making it into an exercise of cultural tourism, which it is not.
I wish I could refrain from hyperbole, but some movies deserve it.

It is true that Hollywood has been frustratingly unoriginal in recent times, relying mostly on formulaic and soulless cinema for their huge pile piles of money to sniff cocaine on. Hence, it is refreshing to see a story as innovative and daring as LOL. It is a remake of a 2008 French movie, and has the same director, Lisa Azuelos. Don’t be alarmed by the word “remake”. because while futile remakes are one of Hollywood’s worst habits, this time it is absolutely necessary and justifiable. A great story like this one needs to reach as many people as possible. It tells a never-before-told story of a privileged emotionally troubled annoyingcharming teenager going through her trivial important first-world emotional problems, while her oblivious and equally charming mother does…things, that, presumably, teenage girls would give a shit about. It stars some of the most brilliant actresses of our generation, like Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore and Ashley Greene. Miley Cyrus whines discusses how hard life is for a white suburban teenager, as she struggles to win the affections of a smug douche handsome hunk. This is every cinema lover’s dream come true! No, really, it is!

Watch it as many times as you can, because you are looking at a cinematic masterpiece. Something that aliens will find after the inevitable apocalypse, and proclaim – “This! This is everything that was wrong with them!

When Will sleeps, Henry gives more than one hundred years to him and commits suicide. Will runs to meet his mother Rachel Salas to credit time to her but she dies before the transference. Will heads to New Greenwich but the timekeeper Raymond Leon believes that he killed Henry to steal his time. Will flirts with Sylvia Weis, who is the spoiled daughter of the millionaire Philippe Weis, in a party and when Raymond arrests him, Will Salas kidnaps Sylvia and brings her to the ghetto where he lives. story line:

If you’ve seen the trailer for this film, I can confirm that it doesn’t cheat you, the film is exactly what you’d expect it to be. As far as I was concerned, that was a good thing.

Shania is a talented athlete who lives in a tower block, sleeping on her auntie’s sofa, and trains on an abandoned track. Despite her disadvantages, she is fast enough to get into the GB athletics squad and is also asked to join the relay team, which will mean running with her rival in the 200m Lisa, who is the daughter of a former gold medallist and big shot in UK athletics. The two bring out the worst in each other, although the viewer gets to see that both have their difficulties. Can the other, more down-to-earth members of the relay team and the dogged coach get them to pass the baton as smoothly as silk and run past all the other teams? If you’ve seen any underdog competes movie, you will know what the answer to that particular question is.

It’s a canny film, obviously made with the Olympics in mind; although the big races are at some made-up competition set in London, the idea is of winning on an international stage in front of a home crowd. I think it’s also fair to say that it owes its dues to Bend It Like Beckham, as it’s about a group of girls who are really good at sports. The main focus is on them making the most of their time and opportunity.
The most powerful moments come when these girls are running, whether it’s running to the winning line, running from drunken boys paying them unwanted attention (and leaving them for dust), running together or singly. Crichlow is really likeable as our heroine, although Shania’s got a chip on her shoulder, we’re mostly in sympathy with her when she stands up for herself.

I’d recommend it. It’s a fun film that puts a timely gloss on a familiar story. The script is a bit by numbers and the film doesn’t really work that hard on being realistic, from the ‘TV Sport’ channel to the haphazard training schedules (it seems churlish to think that the Americans would have won having trained like proper pros). The arc is everything, after all. Everything is done well enough, although there are moments or glimpses of a better, more real movie, such as the scene where Shania and Lisa talk about their fathers.

At its best, Mario Van Peebles's We the Party feels like the director's overt thesis statement on today's youth culture. The picture is at heart a somewhat generic youthful coming-of-age story that follows several high schoolers as they struggle to determine their place in their portion of the world. It arguably wants to be a defining portrait of a youth embroiled in the connectivity-era, along with a generally upper-middle class Los Angeles living under the first minority president. But the film is actually at its best when its all-but explicitly monologuing what is clearly Van Peebles's thoughts about a whole host of social issues. The film has more educational merit than filmmaking polish. It is clearly an amateur work, with a respected filmmaker working on a shoe-string budget with largely novice actors.
