Story Line :

The Pregnancy project which tells the real story of Gaby Rodriguez, a seventeen-year-old who attended a Washington state high-school and made her senior school project the treatment of pregnant teenagers by pretending to be pregnant.

In “The Pregnancy Project,” Gaby Rodriguez (Vega) is the brave 18-year-old high school student who forces her school and community to confront its prejudices and preconceptions about teen pregnancy – and makes national headlines in the process. The story begins with Gaby deciding that her senior project will be on stereotyping, which she decides to experience firsthand. Confiding in her mother Juana (Reyes), her boyfriend Jorge (Walter Perez) and a handful of others, Gaby begins her social experiment in which she tells her friends, family and teachers that she is pregnant. While her fake baby bump continues to grow over the next six and a half months, Gaby carefully records how she is treated and what is being said about her – for better and for worse – both in and out of school. With her project’s findings conclusive, Gaby emotionally addresses her fellow students and their teachers about stereotyping and teen pregnancy during a special school assembly and then shocks them by ripping off her padded “baby bump,” revealing she was never pregnant at all and teaching them a valuable lesson.

The supporting cast includes Giovanni Ribisi, Joel McHale, Jessica Stroup, and Patrick Warburton. The film is the feature-length directorial debut of MacFarlane,produced by Media Rights Capital, and distributed by Universal Pictures.
The film was generally well-received. It currently has a 68% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 143 reviews, with an average score of 6.5/10, saying "Ted's 'romance versus bromance' plot is familiar, but the film's held aloft by the high-concept central premise and a very funny (albeit inconsistent) script". Based on the top critics, the film holds a 64% "fresh" rating based on 36 reviews, with an average score of 6.4/10. Review aggregate Metacritic has given the film a weighted score of 62, based on 36 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Roger Ebertgave the film a 3.5/4 grade, citing the movie as "the best comedy screenplay so far ", also praising the film on the fact that it "doesn't run out of steam".
Nathan Rabin of The A. V. Club gave the film a B grade.
Brent McNight of Beyond Hollywood commented on the jokes, "Some of these jokes hit, some jokes miss."
On the other hand, A. O. Scott of The New York Times called Ted "boring, lazy and wildly unoriginal".
Box office:
Ted earned $2.6 million in midnight showings. For its opening day, Ted scored one of the best R-rated comedy debuts ever since The Hangover with an estimated $20.2 million.The film earned a total of $54.4 million in its opening weekend in the U.S. and Canada, well over second-place Magic Mike's $39.2 million. Its overall weekend gross set a record for the highest original R-rated movie opening of all time.
