STORY LINE:
Surviving in a volcanic world is tough sufficient, but caveman Grug catches a rude awakening when an earthquake forces him to leave behind the only world he knows. With his family in tow, he ventures out into the volatile world in search of a new home. The situation becomes even more complicated when Grug's family — in particular his oldest daughter, Eep (Emma Stone) — falls for a nomad named Guy (Ryan Reynolds) they encounter on their dangerous journey. This quirky, imaginative stranger's search for 'tomorrow' is at odds with Grug's reliance on the traditions of yesterday.Though DreamWorks Animation has remained mostly mute on this project, what has me primed is the presence of co-director Chris Sanders, who has co-captained How to Train Your Dragon and Lilo & Stitch with Dean DeBlois. In development since at least 2005, the project was almost made with Aardman Animations, and John Cleese had an early hand in the screenplay.
The world's very first prehistoric family goes on a road trip to an uncharted and fantastical world.

Story Line:

Most interesting to us is the studio switch that finds the sequel to the surprise horror hit being released by CBS Films instead of Lionsgate. Back in 2010, the genre specialists relentlessly marketed the original for an $20 million opening weekend. Looks like CBS Films is determined to stick around and has begun to shell out for proven box-office hits (remember how The Woman in Black performed for them). Eli Roth is back in producer mode and probably knows more than anyone that this really is nowhere near the the last exorcism for poor Nell Sweetzer. Indie director Ed Gass-Donnelly (Small Town Murder Songs) gets the call up to the semi-big leagues.

As Nell Sweetzer tries to build a new life after the events of the first movie, the evil force that once possessed her returns with an even more horrific plan.

Continuing where the first film left off, Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found alone and terrified in the woods. Back in the relative safety of civilization, Nell realizes that she can't remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning.

Though he isn't directing from his own screenplay -- those duties were left to Wentworth Miller, who was guided by the dark-hued hand of Erin Cressida Wilson -- Park has narrative and stylistic flourishes that are a custom fit for Nicole Kidman's art-house leanings. Meanwhile, Mia Wasikowska continues to out-Fanning her peers with a series of wonderfully offbeat moves. After India's father dies, her Uncle Charlie, who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her unstable mother. She comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives and becomes increasingly infatuated with him. An enigmatic uncle, Charlie, moves in with India and her emotionally unstable mother, Evelyn, after the death of India's father. Although suspicions about his motives are raised, India and Evelyn soon find themselves drawn to him The movie premiered at Sundance and the reviews were extremely positive with praise going to the performances of Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman. Writing in The Guardian, critic Jeremy Kay called the film "a gorgeously mounted family mystery dressed up as a gothic fairytale," and said the film presents viewers with clues worthy of Hitchcock: "Literary references and symbolism abound in Stoker. You can get tied up trying to figure out who is what. That is the idea. All the clues are there. You just have to look closely."The Guardian awarded Stoker four out of five stars in its review.
